Google Transition - upcoming archive @eng account closures February 29, 2024
To everyone that has a email@example.com Google account:
This message is for you! Thank you for all your work to transition to new Google accounts last year - I'm looking forward to completing this last push to ensure that all of you are fully ready to close your old accounts.
This is a reminder that firstname.lastname@example.org Google accounts are scheduled to close at the end of February 2024.
We will be sending out targeted notices to you leading up to this closure. Please watch for emails from email@example.com over the next few months as we work to finalize these account closures with you all.
My Drive data should be evacuated from the @eng accounts - https://eng2ucsd.eng.ucsd.edu/transition-watchpoints/mydrive
Your @eng My Drive should be empty, OR should contain only files that should be deleted with the account
Best way to extract your My Drive data is to use the rainbow method that has been laid out in our documentation
We are happy to help faculty/staff with this process - please send us a request at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you to everyone that has already completed this step. I know there are folks that we are currently in the process of helping, and I appreciate your patience as we work through each step.
Hopefully you have not needed to use your @eng account for anything else after your Google Transition was completed
If you are using Google Chrome, you should have already created a new Chrome Profile that signs into your ucsd account
I hope everyone's year is off to a great start, thank you for your time and attention!
