UCSD-PROTECTED New Connection Style: connect with your OEC-managed laptop/desktop - you will now be using a certificate-based connection. The campus network will recognize your system, verify it is running Qualys and Trellix, and then allow your system onto the campus network. This gives you access to the campus network, and you can access things on campus that you might not be able to if you were off-campus (examples: department network file share, networked printers).
What does this mean for you?
OEC manages the majority of laptops and desktops you currently use for your day-to-day work.
If your laptop/desktop is managed by OEC, then your system is already prepared for UCSD-PROTECTED functionality.
OEC-managed systems do NOT need to be "enrolled in Intune"
UCSD-PROTECTED New Connection Style:
All Intune-enrolled systems (enrolled by Jacobs School accounts) will be automatically configured to use a certificate to connect (replaces AD Username and Password)
All systems with approved exceptions will continue to connect using AD Username and Password
You do not need to change anything, your system will still be able to connect with the same access it had before
Please contact your IT group to ensure your specific case is being accounted for
Administrative staff: Contact your IT group to determine next steps.
Otherwise,
Option 1: Intune Enrollment
Review the Intune Terms and Conditions page
If you decide to proceed, follow the links on the bottom of the page to enroll (in the blue box).
Once enrolled, your device will meet the minimum security standards needed to access trusted resources.
Option 2: Exception Request
If your system requires access to Trusted Resources, but there is a technical reason you cannot run the required software to be compliant, campus requires your system to have an approved exception on file.
If you are unsure which option to choose, please contact oec@ucsd.edu and we'll help you determine the answer
